Dismantling structural racism in nursing

Confronting the uncomfortable actuality of systemic racism—the system that creates and maintains racial inequality in each aspect of life for individuals of colour—is having a nationwide heyday. But calling out this injustice and doing one thing about it are two various things.

Villarruel wrote the editorial titled “Beyond the naming: institutional racism in nursing,” together with Marion E. Broome, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, Dean of the School of Nursing at Duke University.

The framework the authors define identifies ways in which nurses can lead of their organizations and alter insurance policies, practices, and traditions that drawback and diminish individuals of colour in faculties of nursing, nursing skilled organizations, and well being methods.
